Ballpoint Pen…Again

At yesterday’s life drawing session I used a ballpoint pen for the shorter poses and added watercolor to the pen for a couple of longer poses.

  1. I love ballpoints for quick-sketching as well. As you’ve mentioned, you can get half-tones from them and the oil-based ink is waterproof. Personally I love the refills for the Fisher Space pen because they never blob and orientation doesn’t affect ink flow. Love your sketches, particularly the ones with added color.

    1. Thanks Larry. I recently discovered using ballpoints and really enjoy them. There was an interesting article in the Summer issue of Drawing Magazine called Cases in Ballpoint with some amazing work by various artists, some using colored ball point pens as well. You might check it out if you haven’t seen it. Thanks again for writing.
