Early Spring Maple Tree

Yesterday, the weather being very pleasant, (finally!) I went out to take a look at some maple trees near our house. I love the way the branches spread out several feet above the ground. Since there are no leaves yet, it’s a good time to make a study of the branching structure of the tree. The Spring light had a very pastel look to it.

  1. Thanks so much, Shari. It felt GOOD to get outside and actually be able to draw without being afraid of freezing. It was only a relatively few days ago that we had 5 -6 inches of fresh snow on the ground and now it’s all gone and the flowers are coming up. You’ll be happy to know that I did this without water brushes!

  2. Jeff,
Is this for sale? Our son-in-law loves trees and this is soooo beautiful!
I also enjoyed your comment about the “pastel air” and how you treated that in the drawing…

  3. Sorry, Jenness, It’s not for sale. As a matter of fact it’s in a sketchbook that I don’t cut drawings out of. I’m so glad you like it though. Why not send him the link to it and at least then he can see it. Thanks for your generous comment.
