Quick iPad Nude Studies

As I mentioned in the previous post, I hope to eventually bring my iPad to the regular life drawing sessions. It would provide yet another medium for figure drawing. Since the local life drawing group is not meeting for two weeks due to the holidays, I’ve been busy trying to learn how to use the iPad and Procreate app for drawing, everything from abstracts to nudes. Because the drawing group usually starts with four or five 5-minute poses, I wanted to force myself to do some drawings (from photographs) in that short amount of time. It’s more complicated than just drawing with pastels or pencils because I’m still learning “the geography” of the Procreate app (where the brushes and colors and other controls are and how they perform). I was able to get some workable results doing short timed poses although I have a ways to go yet to feel comfortable with it. Here are the quick nude studies to prepare for “live” drawing.

    1. Thanks Suzi. It IS fascinating…for me too! I’m having a ball with this app. It won’t teach you how to draw or paint but it gives you the freedom to explore and play with endless combinations of texture and color. I’m a kid again!
