New Procreate Abstracts

With some exceptions, most of the abstract designs I’ve created in Procreate app for iPad have been in a square format. The three posted here are all vertical. They combine many of the techniques that I have talked about in previous postings. Among these are the use of shadowed edges, pattern brushes, geometric shapes and the addition of textures to some of the objects and backgrounds.

The first of the three designs below was created in Procreate app and then processed in iColorama (a photo editing app) to simulate a surface with relief (raised texture) and enhanced lighting. This helped to bring out the assortment of textures in the composition. The second composition incorporates shadowed edges to add depth. All three compositions make use of pattern brushes that, when applied, cover an area with a fixed (often intricate) design. For the most part, I have kept to a rather limited, mainly warm palette of earth tones.
