Life Drawings / July 17

Well, I suppose it was inevitable that I’d drag out the iPad to do life drawing again. It’s really been quite a while since I last did and I wanted to try again. It was a bit problematic getting used to switching tools, colors and making other adjustments during the time constraints of the poses. When I warmed up with a few iPad studies at home from photos of models, I took as much time as I needed. Having to work quickly and deliberately in the live session was much more challenging. I think that in some ways the shorter gesture drawings of 5 to 7 minutes worked best for this session. The longer poses allowed for more finishing but, to some extent, seem less fresh and spontaneous to me.
