Recent Experiments

As followers to this blog know, I have been experimenting since last December with various techniques to create abstract compositions in Procreate for iPad. I continue to be mesmerized by the possibilities that this app provides. I’m posting my latest three experiments today. They were created using different methods but with a similar palette of colors.

All three of them, when finished, were brought into iColorama to add the appearance of surface textures. One of the pleasures of looking at original paintings is a “tactile” response to them, seeing and mentally “feeling” the surface. Of course we can’t actually touch the painting but in our mind’s eye we try to “feel” the surface, at least I do. What I’m trying to do digitally is recreate that sense of surface but in a two-dimensional context.
