Life Drawings / October 23

This week I concentrated on using NuPastels rather than Chunky Charcoals. When I first started using this medium it was with Conté Crayons. I then added and continued to use NuPastels. Eventually, I discovered Chunky Charcoals made by Cretacolor and began to use those almost exclusively. I have found that with the paper I’m using (18″ x 24″ white sulphite 60 lb paper from Dick Blick), the Chunky charcoals leave a lot of dust and residue. I’m trying to go back to mainly using NuPastels because they are a bit firmer and don’t leave as much dust. In addition, they offer many more colors to work with. My short pose drawings this week are somewhat less finished because I was trying to get used to working with the NuPastels and tended to run out of time. The timings of the drawings are given in the captions below each image.
