The term “life drawing” usually refers to drawings done directly from a live model. There is a long tradition of life drawing used to develop an artist’s general drawing skills. Since I trained as a musician (see “About” page) and not as an artist, I didn’t have an academic experience of drawing from a model in school. In 2011 I joined a life drawing group and discovered the great value of this discipline.
My early drawings were done in pencil
and then I experimented with Conté crayons,
gradually coming to pastels as my main medium for life drawings.
More recently I’ve also tried using pencil, pen and ink and watercolor, the materials that I generally use for “Urban Sketching”.
